About

About Heather
Heather grew up in the military, moving often, and now has a great love for change and new things:  new places, foods, languages, experiences, adventures, and challenges.  She loves meeting new people, the things they teach her, and the new friendships they bring.  Heather is in her element when she has found someone or some creature to help, nurture, care for, or love.  She also really enjoys rock-climbing, kayaking, canyoneering in southern Utah, and doodling with ink and watercolors.  She is a freelance illustrator and graphic designer, and promises to have a website of her work up soon!

About Spencer
Spencer has a great passion for creativity and creating new things.  He is an artist and a teacher, and loves to find ways to inspire others and make the world a better place.  He has an open-minded desire to know the world for himself, and to find his place in it.  He especially loves spending time outdoors, in awe of nature, and taking advantage of the recreational opportunities it provides: whitewater kayaking, backpacking, mountaineering, or even just kicking back for a good nap under a tree.  On the flipside, he also likes new technology and gadgets, and reading about really boring, but educational things.  Latest read: Democracy and Education – digital copy of course.  Spence is really looking forward to a year of good eating, good travels, and learning new things.

About our trip
We believe in living a life of positive action.  We want to experience the world around us, and live life to its fullest – no matter where we are.  We love to travel and serve others, so we sold most of our stuff, loaded up a backpack for each of us and hit the road.  We plan to travel for at least a year and maybe longer. We hope to explore new places and cultures, meet new people, and find opportunities for service. We have started in Asia with plans to take our time and seek to have rich experiences.  We welcome your ideas, advice, and connections to people you may know in the places we may go.  Feel free to share any volunteer opportunities you are aware of.  Tell us your thoughts and ask us any questions.
